The gale force wind that was Marion Hampson shifted to a whisper and heaven just got a little more lively – and a lot more interesting.
With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Marion Edith (Gibennus) Hampson, who passed away October 1, 2026, unafraid and with an open heart at the age of 90 years old.
A woman of extraordinary beauty, strength and grace, she lived her life unyielding, loving and unforgettably.
Throughout her life she did not go where the path led, instead she went where there was no path and left a trail.
From humble beginnings Marion began to build a life.
She was born August 19, 1936, on her grandfather’s homestead near Wildwood, Alberta during the Great Depression.
Following World War II, she, her two younger sisters (Fran and Muriel) and her father moved to Calgary, Alberta to restart life after the war and a few years later two younger brothers (Bill and Bob) were added to the Gibennus family.
