Belize is taking its tourism promotion to Taipei, where the Taiwan International Travel Fair opened today.

The four-day event brings together tourism representatives, airlines, cruise operators and travel businesses, giving Belize an opportunity to introduce its attractions to prospective visitors and industry partners in Asia.

Tourism Minister Anthony Mahler is among the Belizean officials attending the fair, which runs through November 9 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.

The delegation also includes Minister of State Devin Daly, Human Development Minister Thea Garcia-Ramirez, Belize’s Ambassador to Taiwan Katherine Meighan, and Tourism Ministry Chief Executive Officer Nicole Usher.

This year marks the fair’s fortieth anniversary.

Under the theme “World Travelers, Starting in Taiwan,” the exhibition features approximately sixteen hundred booths, with participation from one hundred and twenty-three countries and cities.

Taiwan’s Minister of Transportation and Communications, Chen Shih-kai, was a keynote speaker at the opening.

Chen Shih-Kai, Ministry of Transportation and Communication: “Of course, the most important factor is the hard work of all our tourism partners, alongside our nation’s overall economic growth.

So, whether this year or next, all our partners must work together to warmly welcome all domestic and international travelers.

We will have a great number of domestic travelers, and we will also see a significant influx of international tourists.

We need to work together on this front.

I know all our tourism partners are here today.

This is a joyous event, and everyone who has come here is planning their next trip, including myself.

If I see any interesting travel packages later, I will definitely open my wallet to buy them, but I will have to wait until after I see the President off before I can sneak in a purchase.

Thank you all very much for....
